Amy Harrington – Osteopath
Bach Clinical Science, M.Ost
Amy is a APHRA registered Osteopath, graduating from Southern Cross University with a Master of Osteopathic Medicine.
Before Osteopathy, Amy spent a decade developing her hands-on skills as a Remedial massage therapist which took her travelling and living in the UK. Amy has worked extensively with pregnancy both pre- and post-natal during her years as a remedial massage therapist. She has also worked closely with high-performance athletes such as the Gold Coast Suns AFL team and the women’s Olympic kayaking team. Over the years as a remedial massage therapist, Amy’s passion for understanding the musculoskeletal system grew, leading her to pursue a career as an Osteopath.
As an Osteopath, Amy uses a thorough structural approach to her patients to restore function, mobility, and overall well-being. Amy is dedicated to supporting her patients through their conditions whether acute or chronic by providing hands-on techniques to reduce pain and inflammation as well as increasing mobilisation. Amy also focuses on providing individually tailored management plans for patients regarding education about their health, injury prevention and strategies to reduce pain. Amy has special interests in:
- pre- and post-natal care
- headaches and migraines
- jaw-related pain
- pelvic pain
- nerve pain
- disc-related injuries
Amy uses a vast range of manual therapy techniques developed over years of practising, including osteopathic manipulation, joint mobilisations, soft tissue release, cupping, and dry needling as well as being a big believer in movement through exercise.
Outside of Osteopathy, Amy enjoys exploring the hinterland, and getting back to the beach whenever she can. Originally from the Gold Coast, Amy is always keen to hear suggestions on where to eat in Brisbane.
